Crosswalk: USMARC to FGDC Content Standards for Digital Geospatial Metadata.

The USMARC formats (U. S. Machine Readable Cataloging) are standards for the representation and communication of bibliographic and related information in machine-readable form. A USMARC record involves three elements: the record structure, the content designation, and the data content of the record.

The FGDC standard specifies the information content of metadata for a set of digital geospatial data. The purpose of the standard is to provide a common set of terminology and definitions for concepts related to these metadata.

The following table was derived from the crosswalk by Elizabeth Mangan, Geography and Map Division, Library of Congress.
